Do Follow & No Follow Tag

21st Dec, 2008 | No Comment | Posted in Search Engine Optimization

What is No Follow Tag? No follow is a code that is placed on content management scripts or HTML that prevents the website from passing pagerank or link juice to the other sites. Most of the time it applies to the commentor’s website. On the other hand, Do Follow means the absence of No Follow Tags. So when someone says this blog has No Follow tags, people are not getting backlinks to their website, hence not an attractive option to add content.

Apparently many of the SEO consultants and enthusiasts have got this very wrong. A lot of people thinks that by having nofollow tags, they are not passing page ranks to other people. People are not stupid either. When there’s a nofollow tag, people are less likely to post comment. Just how do you see whether there’s nofollow tags? Just use some of the SEO toolbars from SEO Book to do that.

Why should you make your website or blog Do Follow? When you blog is Do Follow, people are more likely to post comments. At the end of the day, Google likes content. Having many comments will result in your website constantly refreshed by Search Engines and it results in having higher page ranks. So for those who are macro and are not willing to share the links, they are the real losers as the main purpose for having a website or blog is to drive more traffic.
